_____________________ STILL STANDING After beating the odds After tempting the fates After pushing his luck across a dozen states After changing direction After reading the signs After steering clear of trouble When he hit hard times After all of that? Where’s he at? After rising to the task After being let down After keeping his head while the madness spun around After speaking his mind After suffering fools After feeling the heat But playing it cool After all of that? Yeah He’s still standing, standing. The man’s still standing. Two feet on the ground He’s still standing, standing The man’s still standing. As the world goes round He’s still standing, standing The man’s still standing. Two feet on the ground He’s still standing, standing The man’s still standing. You can’t keep him down After paying the price For holding his own After doing his best And working to the bone After drawing the line After catching a clue After chasing his dreams Now he’s living a few After all of that? Yeah He’s still standing, standing. The man’s still standing. Two feet on the ground He’s still standing, standing The man’s still standing. As the world goes round He’s still standing, standing The man’s still standing. Two feet on the ground He’s still standing, standing The man’s still standing. You can’t keep him down

_____________________ DRIFTING APART If you whisper sweet nothings in my ear I will tell you stories you want to hear In the time it takes to tell a lie We could ask why Why we stay Even though We both want to go We could linger close to what used to be We could hold on to sweet, broken memories As the twilight fades into the dawn We could on On and on Even though the feeling's gone Through the clouds and storm swept seas I found you next to me When the skies clear, when we wake Hold me close and make believe We're not drifting apart If we wait for an unlikely change of heart Could we find our way to a brand new start In the time it takes to wonder why We could go on On and on Even though we’re drifting, drifting Through the clouds and storm swept seas I found you next to me When the skies clear, when we wake Hold me close and make believe We're not drifting apart

about

2014 was our 10th anniversary! What started as a one-off recording project in 2004, became a wild, musical adventure spanning genres, criss-crossing musical borders and knocking over a few traditions along the way.

In honor of our resilience and especially for your listening enjoyment we present several new, original "hard to describe, easy to love" tunes.

As always we are all over the musical map -- ska-inspired, rap inspired, balkan/jazz/rock/folk inspired.

We also included four favorites that we felt deserved to be re-recorded as they have morphed considerably from when we first recorded them. And we couldn't resist including the Rumba Tziganeasca which we love to play live but had never recorded.

All in all, another mad musical voyage.

Recorded at Wally Sound, Oakland, California. Thank you, Wally!

All music & lyrics by Maggie Martin except the traditional “Rumba Tziganeasca”

about

the Mad Maggies California

The Mad Maggies play genre fluid, mostly original, mostly danceable music with a dash of hot pepper and a swig of slivovitz -- they kick up some dust.

They are available to play private parties, large festivals & everything else in between.
